We have been plunged into a second lockdown which has led to our stress and anxiety levels rising which, evidently, is totally normal but not a good feeling at all. In order to help you through this tough time, I've thought of some ways to help you relieve stress and keep calm this Winter - take a look at the list below.
Look After Your Body
Exercise is a great stress reliever and during the last lockdown, we saw a spike in people getting fit and healthy. Although we don't have the sun this time around try and get outside for a walk, run or cycle, not only will the exercise help clear your mind it is good to have some fresh air and a change of scenery. On rainy days try and incorporate a workout into your day at home. There are many workouts and programs that you can sign up for online, or if you'd like some company, why not get your friends and family together and have a group workout over zoom or Skype. Exercise isn't the only way you can look after your body, you may find that being at home your eating habits will change. You might find yourself snacking more often or not cooking proper meals for yourself. Try and make a conscious effort to cook a healthy meal, maybe try some new recipes you have wanted to make.
Stay In Touch
We as humans need social interaction to function, stay in touch with friends and family, especially if you or someone you know lives alone. With technology continually advancing, there's no easier way to stay in touch. A phone call, video call and messaging are all ways you can keep in touch with loved ones. If you are able to meet in person, then do, abiding by social distancing rules and government restrictions of course.

Finding Ways To Relax
We know it's easier said than done, but there are many ways that you can try to relax. Meditation or yoga are popular choices, spend 30 minutes to an hour a day meditating or practising yoga. Doing this allows your mind to shut off to daily stresses and the stretching from yoga gives your body time to stretch and realign your chakras. If you are still feeling stressed, there are a few medications you can take to help relieve your anxiety, these can include Kalms, cbd sweets or Xanax. Be sure to speak to your doctor or a pharmacist first before taking these and see if there are any alternatives that will suit you better.
Feel Grateful
Despite this being a very stressful time for everyone, take a moment each day to practice being grateful for something in your life. It doesn't have to be anything big, find small things like being able to sleep in a warm comfy bed, having friends and family you can speak to or even having a roof over your head. It's the little things we tend to take for granted so once in a while we should acknowledge them, give thanks and become more grounded.
