Stress affects hair growth
Hair growth is linked to a variety of factors, including your hormones. Unfortunately, your hormones react to stress. If you are going through a lot of pressure, you might start noticing unpleasant changes in your hair health. People who experience chronic anxiety can sometimes spot white hair appearing, regardless of their age. The bad news is that you can’t reverse this phenomenon, however, other issues can be tackled through a hair growth boost. You can put an stop to split ends, brittle hair, and other visible damage with hair vitamins, which will aid in nourishing your hair from within. Additionally, it can be a good idea to cut down on shampoo and hair washing habits as washing your hair too often can remove moisture from the follicles and make it appear more dull.
My acne is flaring up!
Your cleansing routine is most likely not as effective during this period of lockdown stress. When you stay indoors, your skin can suffer from a vitamin D deficiency. Vitamin D can prevent skin dryness and inflammation. In addition, as vitamin D regulates the immune system, a deficiency can reduce your body's natural ability to react to clogged up pores and acne. Combined with the increased presence of dust and high stress levels, you could find yourself struggling with a face full of unwanted spots. Your skin needs dedicated care and some TLC; you can find a professional answer on how to reduce acne skin from health products that are designed using the most innovative phyto-technology. Why phyto you may ask? This is due to the fact that plants are best suited to inflamed skin (as they're gentle) and can prevent further issues from happening.
Cracked hand skin
We’ve all been told that the best defence against the virus is to wash your hands - FACTS. Whilst it is essential, overwashing your hands can dry out your skin. In the long term, you can experience painful bleeding and soreness (trust me, I've seen it in the flesh with my brother and the pain he's been in recently). Using a moisturising hand soap can help to reduce the risk of you having to go through those kind of issues and, if you're already starting to experience some of that dryness, you should also look for nourishing hand lotions that can help minimise the damage and rehydrate the skin before it gets any worse. If anyone would like recommendations regarding this from myself (I know a thing or two about dry skin), feel free to drop me a line below or by email and I can definitely hook you up!

You may not have white hair yet, but if you’ve been dying your hair, you’re probably looking at your natural roots right now in the mirror and, let's face it: it’s not always an elegant sign. However, with all hairdressers being shut, you’ve got no choice than to watch your coloured hair go back to its natural shade. Should you dye your hair at home? If you’re familiar with home dye kits, it can be a good idea to patch up your colour. However, it’s not something to try without prior experience. A mishap could be difficult to save, especially given the fact there’s no professional coiffeur around to help you! Alternatively, you could also join the "go natural" movement that seems to be growing on social media - it's guaranteed to give your hair a much-needed break!
Life in isolation is probably messing up your beauty routine right now and, from acne issues to damaged hair, I totally understand that it's tricky to feel and look your best when your body doesn't know how to cope with the current circumstances. Sadly, you can’t stop stress and lack of facilities from interfering with your usual routine. However, what you can do is make sure to take preventive measures to reduce the impact of the above and feel in control again.

Thank you so much for reading today's post on a few lockdown beauty tips to help you cope with stress and eventual skin and hair issues. It's absolutely okay to not be 100% yourself at the moment (I'm not either, I sit in bed on my laptop and eat 4 packets of Doritos each day - I'd like to think this isn't my normal self) but, with these simple tips, you can still feel beautiful, healthy and amazing indoors.
How is your beauty regime holding up at the moment? Do you have any lockdown beauty tips you'd like to share?

Ugh my acne is flaring up too, and I'm eating my feelings like crazy. I'm still working but work is stressful and I'm so scared of getting sick.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry girl, my skin's also pretty bad, as well as my diet - this is such an abnormal situation so I don't think anyone's expecting us to look like models. I really wish you all the courage and strength to power through and not get sick my darling. x

Don't worry lovely, as soon as my skin is reasonably back to normal I'll definitely upload some new skincare recommendations and routines. x

My skin has been breaking out more too. I've been struggling more with my split ends than my roots but I guess we are all in a similar boat so be it!
ReplyDeleteThat's honestly the only way one can look at it Adrienne! None of us are looking our best given the circumstances so it's absolutely okay. x

I am trying to maintain my sanity so I like to pamper myself the way I know I can. I have to dye my hair but thank God my hair is dark and I don't have much gray hair so it helps that I can use a box hair dye.
ReplyDeleteHaha, it's great that you can keep those locks in check from home Jessica! x

I admit that I have some stress but I have been managing it quite well. My beauty is still not affected.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that's the case for you, I'm jealous too though! x

These are all so relatable! I will admit that my beauty routine has mostly been on hold. These weeks have probably been some of the longest times since my teenage years that I havent worn any makeup though, so that is probably been a good detox for my skin!
ReplyDeleteYou're so right Tessa! Same applies to me, although my skin isn't the best right now, underneath, it's probably benefitting from not being so damn clogged with foundation! x

I have been lax for too long. So now I am actually eager to get myself back on track. I plan to work on myself over the weekend. It will be nice to be back.
ReplyDeleteIt's okay to be lax and have a more chilled approach when it comes to physical appearance from time to time but it does make you feel a lot more normal when you look and feel great! x

Marina Rosie x
The extra beauty tips you give are amazing. I have been enjoying spa nights at least once a week during this time. I will be using your recommendations on Sunday. Thank you
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for reading Melissa! I'm so glad you're getting those spa nights in - essential! x

You've made an excellent point about acne here. I must remind my partner of that. His is acting up and he's so self-conscious and can't understand it because he's less stressed than he was with work, but obviously we're all suffering some sort of stress at the moment even if we don't know it.
ReplyDeleteAwe that hurts my heart. He really shouldn't be self-conscious - it's so normal, even if he feels less stressed, he most likely is more stressed due to the circumstances. Stress doesn't always manifest itself in the form of a feeling of panic, so it's clearly coming through via his skin but it's incredibly normal and doesn't make someone any less beautiful. x

these are very helpful. we should really manage our stress because it will show in our face and body. thanks for these tips!
ReplyDeleteThat's no problem my darling - thanks for reading! x

Thank you sharing these great tips. My skin has become very dry during the lock-down especially my hands, due to constant washing.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely try using a more moisturising handwash instead of soap - soap is the absolute worst and really dries the skin out. If you can't, at least make sure you're using a hand cream, some coconut oil or just a general moisturiser to restore that nourishment in your hands. x

Great post lovely! My hair is worsening at the moment, so I definitely need to start addressing that, but luckily my skin is pretty good as I'm spending more time on my skincare routine xx
ReplyDeleteDi from Max The Unicorn
I'm so glad to hear that Di! I do admit, I have slacked a bit skincare wise (hence why mine has gone downhill) but I'll definitely get back on it now I know there's hope! x

Wow stress is not only affecting my hair growth, it's also my causing my hair to fall off :( You're right I should be washing my hair less
ReplyDeleteMy lovely, you definitely want to be looking at reparative and nourishing products to help you restore your hair's health and limit the damage and falling off - feel free to email me (marinawriteslife@gmail.com) if you'd like any personal recommendations. Don't panic, my hair has been brittle too due to chemical treatments so I know how to stop that, it can be done darl! x
