Let's Talk Teeth with Janina Ultra White

Hey guys! Today, we're going to chat about something that I (as far as I'm aware of) haven't mentioned yet here on my blog and that is TEETH. Personally, for many years now, I've been devoted to oral health and teeth whitening because, for one, it's incredibly important to keep the mouth clean for hygienic purposes and, for two, dazzling white gnashers look damn good on anybody and everybody. However, despite being an unabashed fan of looking after my teeth,  I hadn't yet taken the time out to go through my entire dental care routine and what I've been using for the past while; after an offer I simply couldn't resist, I decided it was about time to obliterate that silence today and talk to you about two products from Janina Ultra White that I was challenged to use for the last month.

So, for those of you that weren't aware, National Smile Month, aiming to promote and raise awareness of good oral health, began on the 14th May (and will end on the 14th June) and, in the hopes of getting involved and helping the nation achieve their #teethgoals, Janina Ultra White challenged myself (among other bloggers) to improve and whiten my teeth using their range. As the products are low abrasive and clinically proven (some even award winning, which is pretty impressive), I was totally down to give them a shot for a month and began my journey with Janina on the 9th of May meaning, after a long month indeed, I'm finally ready to give you my raw thoughts! (SPOILER ALERT: it's looking pretty good)

Within my kindly gifted package, I received the Charcoal & Clay Teeth Whitening Powder, an 100% natural and fluoride-free powder toothpaste, and the BRAND NEW 24K Gold Toothpaste, formulated to help with gum inflammation and brighten the smile using an enzymatic whitening "Bromaine" Complex, a mixture of Bromelaine from Pineapple and Papain from Papaya.

Starting with the powder, it's very rare that I use a polish that doesn't make me grimace with the taste (charcoal isn't chocolate, let's just face the music); I was pleasantly surprised by how non-invasive and actually refreshing this is in the mouth. However, the principal positive point (alliteration queen) with regards to this product is obviously it's effectiveness - it works wonders. Being somebody that drinks an awful lot of tea (it's an unhealthy obsession guys), I'm always worried about eventual stains and discolouration that could occur in the long run, but this has definitely kept them at bay and allowed me to continue with my tea-drinking life, stress-free. Additional, it gently removes any plaque my teeth have accumulated throughout the day, allowing them to reach squeaky clean status and stay shining - for £13, it's worth picking up, as you will see a difference almost right away that will gradually improve even more as time goes on.

Now, onto the item that I was most excited to try (and probably the one that you guys are most excited to hear about): the 24K Gold Toothpaste. Personally, despite being a self-acclaimed bougie babe, this was my first time EVER experimenting with a dental product containing gold. Gold, from what my research has shown, has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects, increases blood flow, helps us fight gum disease and aids in maintaining a high standard of oral hygiene - based on that, I can say that I'm here for it! This toothpaste is also very bling-bling (with the gold particles, it's exactly what I'd imagine the excretion of a unicorn looks like) which is right up my street; aesthetically and ingredients wise, we're off to a pretty decent start.

Much like the powder, again, this has such a fresh and clean taste in the mouth that lasts for hours (no bad breath today, sis) and is really gentle towards the teeth due to the lack of harsh abrasives. This, however, is definitely more effective than the powder when it comes to the actual whitening aspect - thanks to the "Bromaine" complex, my teeth have genuinely never looked so bright, which makes me incredibly happy and more inclined to smile and show off my pearly whites. Overall, although this is on the pricey side (£19 for 75ml...), if you're looking for something that isn't just an overhyped internet scam, I would recommend buying this - seeing your teeth take on a more dazzling edge as each day goes by is more satisfying and fulfilling for the self-confidence than you could ever imagine. FLAUNT THAT SMILE!

Thank you so much for reading my first oral health related post - doing this National Smile Month challenge with Janina Ultra White has been such a blast and a great opportunity to start talking teeth on Marina Writes Life (trust me, I have many dental care posts in store for the future).

Do you like the sound of Janina's products? What's your oral health routine?

  1. I've not heard of these before, but then again I don't tend to stray from Colgate haha! I love the sound of the toothpaste though, as if it actually contains gold, that's insane! I'm not sure if the powder would be for me, but it's good that it's not the worst tasting one you've had and that it's actually refreshing! Great post!xx

    1. Haha, thanks for reading and enjoying Han, Colgate really is the OG for most people! xx And yeah, my reaction exactly when I found out about the gold - JESUS, it's like my bougie paradise! And finally, I do think this is probably the best tasting one I've used because, normally, they taste like I'm licking ashes and that's not a good flavour...

  8. I don´t really use teeth whitening products, even though due to the abundance of black tea my teeth could use them for sure.

    1. Honestly darl, with these, there's no need to be scared at all - they work just like any bog standard toothpaste or powder except for, as they're cleaning, they're also whitening and brightening up that smile. I understand where you're coming from though, some people get scared of the syringe and LED blue light kits because they look and are a lot more professional and slightly more intimidating (I love them, personally) but, I can assure you, there's nothing to be worried about! x

  10. These both sound amazing! I'm a tad obsessed with using whitening toothpastes (or ones that claim to whiten at least) and this one sounds really good. I have also never used a powder before, although have heard good things about them, maybe I need to get on the trend! x

I will give this a go as it contains clay too and I haven't seen any teeth whitening products with clay in them. Can't wait to give it a try.

    1. These are some really interesting things to try, trust me! x Colgate is a very good brand to trust too but Crest's products are from the US and their regulations in regards to ingredients are different and I believe they do use some products that don't meet the EU regulations for safety, especially with teeth whitening, so do be careful babes! xx
