Hey guys! Today, we're going to chat about something that I (as far as I'm aware of) haven't mentioned yet here on my blog and that is TEETH. Personally, for many years now, I've been devoted to oral health and teeth whitening because, for one, it's incredibly important to keep the mouth clean for hygienic purposes and, for two, dazzling white gnashers look damn good on anybody and everybody. However, despite being an unabashed fan of looking after my teeth, I hadn't yet taken the time out to go through my entire dental care routine and what I've been using for the past while; after an offer I simply couldn't resist, I decided it was about time to obliterate that silence today and talk to you about two products from Janina Ultra White that I was challenged to use for the last month.
So, for those of you that weren't aware, National Smile Month, aiming to promote and raise awareness of good oral health, began on the 14th May (and will end on the 14th June) and, in the hopes of getting involved and helping the nation achieve their #teethgoals, Janina Ultra White challenged myself (among other bloggers) to improve and whiten my teeth using their range. As the products are low abrasive and clinically proven (some even award winning, which is pretty impressive), I was totally down to give them a shot for a month and began my journey with Janina on the 9th of May meaning, after a long month indeed, I'm finally ready to give you my raw thoughts! (SPOILER ALERT: it's looking pretty good)
Within my kindly gifted package, I received the Charcoal & Clay Teeth Whitening Powder, an 100% natural and fluoride-free powder toothpaste, and the BRAND NEW 24K Gold Toothpaste, formulated to help with gum inflammation and brighten the smile using an enzymatic whitening "Bromaine" Complex, a mixture of Bromelaine from Pineapple and Papain from Papaya.
Starting with the powder, it's very rare that I use a polish that doesn't make me grimace with the taste (charcoal isn't chocolate, let's just face the music); I was pleasantly surprised by how non-invasive and actually refreshing this is in the mouth. However, the principal positive point (alliteration queen) with regards to this product is obviously it's effectiveness - it works wonders. Being somebody that drinks an awful lot of tea (it's an unhealthy obsession guys), I'm always worried about eventual stains and discolouration that could occur in the long run, but this has definitely kept them at bay and allowed me to continue with my tea-drinking life, stress-free. Additional, it gently removes any plaque my teeth have accumulated throughout the day, allowing them to reach squeaky clean status and stay shining - for £13, it's worth picking up, as you will see a difference almost right away that will gradually improve even more as time goes on.
Now, onto the item that I was most excited to try (and probably the one that you guys are most excited to hear about): the 24K Gold Toothpaste. Personally, despite being a self-acclaimed bougie babe, this was my first time EVER experimenting with a dental product containing gold. Gold, from what my research has shown, has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects, increases blood flow, helps us fight gum disease and aids in maintaining a high standard of oral hygiene - based on that, I can say that I'm here for it! This toothpaste is also very bling-bling (with the gold particles, it's exactly what I'd imagine the excretion of a unicorn looks like) which is right up my street; aesthetically and ingredients wise, we're off to a pretty decent start.
Much like the powder, again, this has such a fresh and clean taste in the mouth that lasts for hours (no bad breath today, sis) and is really gentle towards the teeth due to the lack of harsh abrasives. This, however, is definitely more effective than the powder when it comes to the actual whitening aspect - thanks to the "Bromaine" complex, my teeth have genuinely never looked so bright, which makes me incredibly happy and more inclined to smile and show off my pearly whites. Overall, although this is on the pricey side (£19 for 75ml...), if you're looking for something that isn't just an overhyped internet scam, I would recommend buying this - seeing your teeth take on a more dazzling edge as each day goes by is more satisfying and fulfilling for the self-confidence than you could ever imagine. FLAUNT THAT SMILE!
Thank you so much for reading my first oral health related post - doing this National Smile Month challenge with Janina Ultra White has been such a blast and a great opportunity to start talking teeth on Marina Writes Life (trust me, I have many dental care posts in store for the future).

I've not heard of these before, but then again I don't tend to stray from Colgate haha! I love the sound of the toothpaste though, as if it actually contains gold, that's insane! I'm not sure if the powder would be for me, but it's good that it's not the worst tasting one you've had and that it's actually refreshing! Great post!xx

Haha, thanks for reading and enjoying Han, Colgate really is the OG for most people! xx And yeah, my reaction exactly when I found out about the gold - JESUS, it's like my bougie paradise! And finally, I do think this is probably the best tasting one I've used because, normally, they taste like I'm licking ashes and that's not a good flavour...

I'm super into dental hygiene and looking after your smile too so these products sound amazing. I recently tried out charcoal into my skincare routine and found that it was great, so I'll have to venture into trying it in my dental care routine too! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteSophie - https://sophiehearts.net x
Hi there Sophie! xx Yass, you've just gotta love charcoal in skincare - I love a charcoal mask now and again! However, yes, it does just work so well for teeth too so I couldn't recommend trying these out more babes! No, thank you for reading! x

Good to know it has a fresh, clean taste to it. I wasn't sure because of the charcoal! I haven't tried charcoal on my teeth yet but it sounds awesome!

Yes Rach, it's like a breath of fresh air to find a charcoal based teeth whitening product that doesn't taste horrible! x You should definitely give these two a go - you'd love them! x

Thank you so so much Cris, I'm really glad you appreciated the review and learnt some new information about gold! x You should totally try out these two - it's great that you've already heard of the concept so it's no stranger to you!

I don´t really use teeth whitening products, even though due to the abundance of black tea my teeth could use them for sure.
ReplyDeleteAnne|Linda, Libra, Loca
Haha Anne, you make me laugh every time! Although, to be honest, I've never noticed any staining on your teeth especially, I do recommend these to just keep it at bay and brighten them up a little notch! x

I've never heard about this brand but I'm always bit scared of whitening at home products :)
ReplyDeleteHonestly darl, with these, there's no need to be scared at all - they work just like any bog standard toothpaste or powder except for, as they're cleaning, they're also whitening and brightening up that smile. I understand where you're coming from though, some people get scared of the syringe and LED blue light kits because they look and are a lot more professional and slightly more intimidating (I love them, personally) but, I can assure you, there's nothing to be worried about! x
DeleteLots of love,
Marina Rosie x
These both sound amazing! I'm a tad obsessed with using whitening toothpastes (or ones that claim to whiten at least) and this one sounds really good. I have also never used a powder before, although have heard good things about them, maybe I need to get on the trend! x
ReplyDeletehttps://aimeelillx.blogspot.com/
Haha, obsession with whitening toothpastes sounds like my EXISTANCE Aimee! x But yes, this one is a stand out, as is the powder - you should totally get on the trend darl, no need to miss out any longer! x

these are sounding very good Marina! The toothpaste is more than my budget but sometimes you do have to pay more to get the thing that works and not less for something rubbish! lovely post.
ReplyDeleteEll xxx
Thank you for reading Ellie! I do agree, the toothpaste is very pricey (I've never paid more than like 3 quid maximum for a tube, haha) but it really does do what it says! You're totally right, for some products, if you pay peanuts, you get monkeys, FACTS! x
DeleteLots of love,

This is an interesting sounding product. I haven't tried too many teeth whitening products.

They're lovely, Jen, I couldn't recommend more that you test them out for yourself! x

Oral hygiene is so important and having white teeth lifts my confidence! I've used charcoal products before as I know they're really good for teeth whitening. I will give this a go as it contains clay too and I haven't seen any teeth whitening products with clay in them. Can't wait to give it a try.
ReplyDeleteKHVDIJA | http://www.khvdija.co.uk
Thanks so much for reading Khadija! x Yess, charcoal is so good for teeth whitening - I'm so glad you've tried it and loved it! The clay element of this one really did intrigue me too, you know, but it works so I'm not complaining! xx

The charcoal powder sounds SO good. I recently picked up a charcoal toothpaste and so far its working so well. Both of these products sound really great. I've never heard of this brand, so I'm definitely going to have to look into it! x
ReplyDeleteemjbarker.blogspot.co.uk
Hi there beautiful! x Yass, I'm really glad to hear you're getting into that charcoal - Charcoal anything as a rule of thumb is amazing haha! I'd definitely encourage you to check out these goodies from Janina Ultra White as they sound right up your street for your dental journey! x

Wow! I'd never even heard of the charcoal but love the idea, especially coz it doesn't sound as invasive as other treatments! Deffo need to try these, thanks for sharing!

Hi there Whit - it's always amazing to see you here gorge, look up to you an awful lot! You're so right there - charcoal genuinely works wonders on the teeth, has some seriously good cleaning power and, despite the fact you obviously won't get professional dentist bleaching results, does whiten the teeth! x
DeleteLots of love,

Ive been using Janina for a few months now and they do work. The charcoal one really helps to remove coffee stains, I do recommend myself 😘💞💖
ReplyDeletehttp://www.elegantduchess.com
Hi there babes! xx Love seeing you here and YASSS - I'm so glad you've tried Janina and agree that their products do what they say they're supposed to do! You're right, the charcoal one's amazing for those of us who have coffee and tea addictions haha! x
DeleteLots of love,
Marina Rosie x
Both of these powder and paste sound interesting. 24K Gold in toothpaste, is intriguing. I always get the regular Colgate or Crest whitening toothpastes and that's it. :-)
ReplyDeleteVia | http://glossnglitters.com
These are some really interesting things to try, trust me! x Colgate is a very good brand to trust too but Crest's products are from the US and their regulations in regards to ingredients are different and I believe they do use some products that don't meet the EU regulations for safety, especially with teeth whitening, so do be careful babes! xx
DeleteLots of love,

I've heard many rave about charcoal teeth whitening products and I'm yet to try any so I definitely need to jump on the band wagon!

Yesss, I totally recommend you do so - at the beginning, I was seeing a lot of people doing it and thinking that it couldn't possibly work but it really does! xx
