As the weather is begins to get hotter (well, in most countries...) and the sun finally comes out to play, I, myself, think that a change of makeup routine is 100% appropriate - I simply cannot continue sticking to the same ritual that I follow during Winter and early Spring.
Summer symbolises intense warmth, late nights, a comfortable atmosphere and... STROBING. Yes, strobing (or, alternatively, highlighting - whichever floats your boat) is absolutely essential during the Summer months, as, not only does the glow look stunning against the beams of light shining upon us, but it also keeps us the skin looking dewy and healthy.
Considering all of this, I decided, just for you, that I'd bust out some of my favourite new highlighting weapons that I've been loving lately (and will probably always be loving...) from the lovely Technic Cosmetics, whom you guys have, of course, already seen featured here on my blog. So, grab a quick snack (like a packet of crisps or something?) and get ready to dive into highlighter HEAVEN.
Strobe FX Cream (Caribbean Sunset) - £3.33*
Right, firstly, we've got to talk about this little baby, the Strobe FX Cream, which I fell in love with straight away for several reasons. Available in two alternate shades (Catching Rays and Sunkissed), this cream is capable of bringing another dimension to the skin and providing it with a beautiful glow that can go from subtle to BLINDING with just an extra squirt of product.
The texture is slap bang on the correct level of creamy and spreadable (without being too liquidy and running EVERYWHERE) and applies wonderfully when bounced over the top of a set foundation with a damp Beauty Blender. I, personally, have developed a taste for mixing this with my primer/foundation, to achieve an instantly dewy base, and even with my daily moisturiser when I still feel like glowing on a sans makeup kind of day (sometimes, skin needs to breathe...)
No matter who you are and what products you normally use, this is an essential for Summer and I couldn't recommend it any more - the versatility and inclusivity of the three shades of this product are especially what make it a triumph for me.
Moving onto a couple of those more classic highlighters (you know, the ones that come in powder form in a pan) you better get yourself some sunglasses because we're about to blind, sister.
What I love about these is that, again, there are five very varied shades to choose from depending on skin tone and, well, the pigmentation is just OFF THE SCALE. 24CT Gold is my definition of a faultless highlighter; there's absolutely zero fallout, the compact powder has a smooth and velvety texture and the colour payoff is fabulous and stays exactly the same all day without further application. For the quality that the consumer is provided with at such a low price, the bargain is real, people - I'd take this over some of my high-end products ANY DAY.
Peach Candy is such a unique colour for a strobing product - I've never seen anything like it but, considering peachy hues always end up working out very nicely when partnered up with my red undertones, I was excited to try this. Although it didn't manage to dethrone its worthy 24CT Gold opponent (you can never beat a good bronze on darker skin), the quality is very similar, apart from the fact that it is slightly more powdery. However, as discussed on a recent post, the easy way to fix that is with a light spritz of setting spray/Fix + by Mac on your selected brush before application in order to sufficiently moisten up the product. Then you're ready to glow!
And last, but certainly not least (typical), is the Body Bronzing Oil, which I'm definitely going to have to buy more of once I've completely used and abused my current one - it's just gorgeous. Infused with Avocado oil, this is perfect for soothing, smoothing and hydrating the skin at the same time as giving it a subtle shimmer that's not overly chunky or glittery. It applies perfectly with a brush and/or your hands and doesn't, like a lot of body highlighting products, take on a sticky, uncomfortable texture, so you can continue on with your day as if it weren't even there (like magic, eh?)
I like to use this on my décolleté (neckline) area, to make my collar bones pop a little more, and on my legs, however, the possibilities are endless, as, theoretically, you could use this ALL OVER the body - don't refrain from giving it a try this Summer.
* The products marked with an asterisk have been gifted to me, free of charge, for review. However, all opinions on them are strictly honest.
Thank you so much for reading today's post! I know I'm gonna be strobing through Summer with my Technic Goodies and so should you be - I totally recommend picking these up to 'enhance your glowing potential' over the coming months.
Do you love to strobe during Summer? If so, which one of these Technic products would you use to do so?
Let me know in the comment section below, of course, along with any other burning questions, opinions or feedback - I'll happily respond to you pronto. Don't forget to follow this blog on your way out for updates each and every time I post, so you won't miss out on any future content! Have a wonderful week beauties!
Until next time,

I have very oily skin. And when it is hot and sunny it gets oilier haha! But I love using highlighters. I prefer the subtle powder ones and love the shades of the powder highlighters that you have swatched. Very pretty shades.

Ah, when you have oily skin you already have quite a naturally dewy face but I LOVE that you're still obsessed with playing with a good old highlighter! x Yes, Technic do some amazing highlighters and really knocked it out of the park, especially with the formula of 24CT Gold! x

Oo I haven’t seen the bronzing oil before! I’ve got one of the pink toned shades of the technic powder highlighter and it’s amazing!! I’m constantly reaching for it and for the price, you can’t go wrong! :) x
ReplyDeleteThe bronzing oil is gorgeous - for me it just adds a stunning, glowy finish to the skin but on you, it would really give you a golden tan at the same time! Yes, totally agree, I've been reaching for these highlighters over quite a few of my higher end ones lately - they're such good quality and you can't beat that price!

Thanks so much for reading darl! YASS, the highlighters are absolutely gorgeous, especially 24CT Gold - I know it sounds like I'm raving too much but honestly, the quality and the price point are both AMAZING. x I love the strobing cream mixed into moisturiser just to give me that extra dewy moment - if you mixed in 'Sunkissed' with your moisturiser, it would honestly make your skin POP! x

I don't really get into strobing and / or highlighters, no matter the season, as my skin is dewy on its own and that even gets worse in summer.
ReplyDeleteAnne - Linda, Libra, Loca
I understand that completely Anne - it's not necessarily everyone's cup of tea! But if you're ever looking to up the glow anytime in the future, these are the products you wanna go for! x
