Recently, a friend of mine told me that, from her point of view, serums are a waste of not only your time but also your money and that they don't work. Now, I don't know about you guys, but for me, it's the complete opposite.
Over the years, I've been experimenting with several different serums, all containing rather varied ingredients and claiming to improve my skin in a number of ways. I must say that, so far, my experience has been fairly positive, and I love how healthy my skin has started to feel since the beginning of my trial period.
So, for this post, I'm going to go through the benefits of using a serum regularly and share with you the two serums that I've been adoring lately.
Serums, although not always prioritised when it comes to skin care related purchases, are vital for achieving one's ideal complexion. I mean, they actually WORK. No matter what your skin concern is (whether that be hyperpigmentation, fine lines, dull skin, etc...) you will find a serum that will provide you with the results you've always wanted.
"But can't a cleanser do the job on it's own?", you may ask. Well, the active ingredient content in a serum is much more concentrated than what you would find in any conventional cleanser; you get a much deeper product penetration, resulting in better absorption. Hence why, with serums, results are certainly visible. Yes, it may be quite an expensive product to add to the collection, but for fewer breakouts, less oil and a more even complexion, it's definitely worth making that purchase.
Now that you can see why I love these little bottles of pure goodness, it's time to share my two favourite serums of the moment. Both of these serums are made by a lovely brand called 'Eden's Semilla' who specialise in creating completely natural facial serums using essential oils.
The first one I've been enjoying is their Vitamin C Serum*, which contains some of the most amazing ingredients for the skin:
- Hyaluronic acid: Keeps the skin plump and hydrated
- Retinol: Boosts healthy Collagen and Elastin, keeping wrinkles from forming
- Vitamin C: Also helps to boost collagen and gives your skin a tighter feel
- Rosehip: Corrects the complexion, reducing dark spots and fine lines
- Jojoba: Moisturises the skin
I love what this serum has been doing for my skin lately; it's never been so plump and soft before. As I'm in my teens, I do have quite problematic skin, so it's really nice to see a change in the feel and look of my skin. My spot scars have also been considerably reducing and my skin feels fresh and clean throughout the day. I highly recommend this serum to anyone and everyone; we all have skin concerns and imperfections, and this product will help you improve that and, in time, improve your confidence too.
The next serum from Eden's Semilla is their Hyaluronic Acid Serum*. This one is my favourite of the two because, despite the fact it contains very similar ingredients to the Vitamin C version, I discovered that it's this product that's been giving me a really beautiful glow everyday.
I'm one for dewy, radiant skin and, after using this product in isolation for a while, I was able to determine that it's claims to deliver maximum hydration were completely true. With the added addition of Vitamin E and a lighter texture (encouraging new cell growth and regeneration), this serum is unbeatable and has been the LIFELINE within my skincare routine; I've not found the same results with any other serum to this date. My skin remains moisturised and glowing for the entire day - and that's coming from somebody with dry skin!
Both of these products are fantastic value for money and can be easily placed into your Amazon shopping cart directly from Eden's Semilla's Website! You can buy them in different formats and quantities depending on how much you'd like to use. And, if you were wondering about the scent of these serums, (for me, smell is an absolute dealbreaker) it's really non existent, which means that it'll never bother you upon application.
Honestly, get shopping you guys; I very rarely see such a high quality products for less! It's genius!
* The products marked with an asterisk have been gifted to me, free of charge, for review. However, all opinions on them are strictly honest.
Thank you so much for reading until the end today; you're an absolute star. I really hope you reading enjoyed this post as much as I enjoyed putting it together; when you're passionate about something, you always have an amazing time doing it!
Do you use facial serums on a regular basis? What do you think of these gems from Eden's Semilla?

The best face serums I ever brought is from Orgins. It cleared my skin right up and make face look clear. There also a nice serums you can buy from Holland and Barret - don't know it name, but look there for a nice face serums. I do need to use some as I'm having an awful breakout at the moment. xx
ReplyDeleteI love Origins, their products are honestly life savers. I've tried the drink up mask and loved it but I haven't yet tried the serum, I will do so. And I'm sorry to hear you're having a breakout - don't worry, everyone goes through it! x These serums will help you, they are certainly worth giving a go! x

My wife introduced me to serums and while i don't use them often (pricey), i definitely do see the benefits. The Vitamin C appeals to me more, if only because 'Vitamin C' makes it sound natural.
ReplyDeleteAh, your wife is a saving grace; serums are amazing. The vitamin C IS very natural yet so effective! x

Not gonna lie, but until I saw this post, I never knew there was a such thing as facial serums. To be honest, my skin is fairly clear anyway so I'm not entirely confident with using a product I am not familiar with. So my question to you would be: How can I trust such a concentrated product on my face?
ReplyDeleteBBB x www.beautybeblogger.blogspot.co.uk/
I'm so glad I could introduce you to a new group of products for you regime! Rightio, to answer your question, serums are incredibly carefully formulated. In serums, you only find a high concentration of non damaging product, like in the vitamin C serum. Vitamin C has no negative aspect and can cause no harm to the skin, even in large doses. The ingredients in the serums are very carefully chosen. If it was a serum of entirely tea tree, that could pose some problems and cause a rash - the percentages and quantities are well worked out to give you the best results possible! x

Serums/Sera are so important and I couldn't live without them! I always use this example but if compare your skin to a sponge: a dry sponge will not be able to absorb anything but a wet sponge will! With a serum, you "wet" your face and allow all the good ingredients to be absorbed much better! I don't understand people who say serums are not bringing hydration or are not useful. I had a SA told me that recently when I was shopping with my mum and was OMG...stop telling nonesense...of course she wanted us to buy the expensive cream instead...
ReplyDeleteanyway, I don't know these 2 sérums but they seem pretty ineresting! thanks for showing them!!
Karine, preach girl! You are one hundred percent right. The metaphor of a sponge here perfectly suits the situation; my skin absorbs the serum like there's no tomorrow! All those ingredients and natural skin saviors are sucked in through the pores, allowing them to do their job. And they really do work! So those who say that they don't have clearly just had a bad experience with one. x

I started adding a serum into my routine since my early 20s and now that I am close to 40, I sometimes use 2 serums each time. One is for brightening and the other is for anti-aging, serum is a huge must for me.
ReplyDeleteOh, so that's why your skin is so good Shireen! Serums are vital for me too, I couldn't just leave them out of my skincare routine, it would literally break my heart. xx I love brightening too, I have dark spots after breakouts and these really helped! x
